As independent specimens, these plants are displaying good fall color. Beyond these plants is my brick house that is a pale pink that offers the perfect camouflage to the plants. The lack of contrast against the background, makes the plants lose their oomph and appear boring.

I've got a Japanese Maple ('Autumn Moon') that has a bright red branch and the others are still green and look to be turning gold. Weird, huh? It's a grafted tree, so I thought maybe that was the explanation, but everything is above the graft.
