Fall color no contrasting background

As independent specimens, these plants are displaying good fall color. Beyond these plants is my brick house that is a pale pink that offers the perfect camouflage to the plants. The lack of contrast against the background, makes the plants lose their oomph and appear boring.
Endless Summer Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Endless Summer')

Oakleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia)

I wish the entire Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) was the vibrant red.

  1. I've got a Japanese Maple ('Autumn Moon') that has a bright red branch and the others are still green and look to be turning gold. Weird, huh? It's a grafted tree, so I thought maybe that was the explanation, but everything is above the graft.
